What This Job Involves

The Medical Center Representative – Call Team (Remote) role offers a competitive hourly wage of $16 to $18 and is full-time with generous benefits including health, dental, vision, and life insurance. Employees also receive paid time off and access to retirement and profit-sharing plans after the first year. All necessary equipment is provided, and the role is remote after on-site training.

The position requires all initial training to take place on-site, with up to three months depending on the candidate’s learning pace. There may be occasional on-site work, particularly during training or technical difficulties.

To qualify, candidates must have a high school diploma or equivalent, a valid driver’s license, and preferably two years of medical office or remote work experience.

Applicants should be comfortable with phone communication, as the role involves handling a high volume of inbound calls, appropriately routing calls, and managing patient schedules and details in a busy neurology practice.

Strong organization, attention to detail, and HIPAA compliance are required, as well as proficiency with Microsoft Office and Internet tools for daily administrative tasks and collaboration.

Responsibilities and Daily Activities

As a Medical Center Representative on the call team, you’ll answer and triage more than 200 incoming calls daily from patients, vendors, and healthcare partners. Monitoring call wait times and minimizing dropped calls is a key responsibility.

You will screen calls, transfer them to appropriate departments, and communicate effectively with patients and fellow staff members. Scheduling and confirming appointments in detail, understanding insurance policies, and making notes in patient charts are everyday tasks.

Representatives must review and inform patients about their balances when scheduling, proactively monitor for schedule changes or openings, and promptly fill available slots. Working within established protocols and maintaining accurate records is fundamental.

Ensuring complete and up-to-date documentation in all patient cases using specialized software is essential, and you’ll be instrumental in keeping provider schedules running smoothly.

There are no weekend or holiday hours, and shifts typically run from 8:30 am to 5 pm. Flexibility and reliability are especially important during training and at times when office presence is required.

Key Advantages

One significant advantage is the opportunity to work from home for a respected healthcare practice, with all computers and necessary equipment provided.

Full-time employees enjoy a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and early retirement plan eligibility, making the overall compensation attractive.

Potential Drawbacks

The initial on-site training commitment may be lengthy, which is not ideal for everyone searching for immediate remote work.

There are times when being on-site unexpectedly is required, so absolute work-from-home flexibility isn’t guaranteed.

Final Thoughts

The Medical Center Representative – Call Team (Remote) position combines reliable compensation, great benefits, and stable hours with the advantage of remote work. While some in-person attendance and thorough training are required upfront, the overall opportunity is well-suited for individuals seeking a secure and rewarding administrative role in healthcare.
